The Baltimore & Ohio E-27 2-8-0 prototype was built in 1905 by Richmond Lomotive Works, which later became part of the American Locomotive Company (ALCO). This S steam locomotive has extensive piping and appliance detail, a straight boiler and 62” drivers. Its smooth, graceful lines are highly typical of 2-8-0s built in that era for other rail lines. Consolidations labored until virtually the end of the transition era.
The 2-8-0, modeled after the B&O Class E-27, is ready to run and operate right out of the box on any layout with American Flyer compatible track and standard AC transformer, rectifier, and/or rheostat control. Also included are all parts necessary to operate on DC or with code 110 RP-25 wheels.
The general configuration is with sound, lighting and speed control with the LocoMatic 10-button controller included with the locomotive. Optionally the locomotives will be available for DC operation without sound or Digital Command Control (DCC) Sountraxx sound.
