The prototypes were used to haul livestock, were seen in steam consists and lasted until the early 1970’s. They featured steel “Z” bracing with wooden slats. This car is modeled after the Union Pacific S-40-10 stock car. These were rebuilt from 1916-era automobile box cars into both single and double deck cars and were the first to wear the famous UP armour yellow and silver paint scheme.
